日本語の特徴は、文法の面からみれば、「文の構造」だと思います。基本的に、日本の文は主語（S)、目的語（O）、動詞（V）という順序に並ばれますが、他の言語では、SVOという順序をとるのが多いです。特に、英語とロマンス諸語の文法そういう形となっていることがご存知でしょうが、母語の中国語、国語のマレー語もそうです。
また、他の言語と一番はっきり違っているのは、「日本語の文字」です。英語はアルファベットで、中国語は漢字で、韓国語はハングルで（昔は漢字でしたがが）…大体の言語はたった一つだけの文字で書かれます。一方、日本語は漢字とともに、ひらがなとカタカナも使われます。
もちろんそれ以外、日本語の特徴として、よく上げられる例は、「敬語」の使いなどもありますね。
日本語の特徴は大ざっぱにこれだと思いますが、よろしいでしょうか？
