Tokyo Tower

Sorry for getting digressing in the previous post.

Oh, so, I didn't visit Roppongi Hills. Instead, I was lured towards Tokyo Tower, which was looming ahead, just down the street.

It wasn't too far away. Just about 20 minutes - no, maybe 30 minutes. Ah, I don't know. It looked deceivingly close, though.

Both sides of the streets were lined up with bars, nightclubs and fancy restaurants - places where you and I wouldn't enter - unless you're ready to part with fat stacks of cash.

Police were all over the place. A police could be seen patrolling around riding on a bicycle. Hey, after all, this is where the rich guys hang out.

There was the ubiquitous, familiar Don Quijote (pronounced as Donkey-Hot-Ay).

Spotted an antique shop.

Selling interesting things, like this samurai armour.

A post office.

And an eco-friendly (and "kids-friendly"), toy-like public bus which ran on natural gas.

Of course, there was Tokyo Tower, finally!

Some facts about Tokyo Tower:
  • It's build as the Eiffel Tower's replica at a total cost of ¥2.8 billion
  • It's 333m tall, 9m taller than the Eiffel Tower
  • Weighs about 4000 tons, while the Eiffel Tower weighs about 10100 tons
  • The tallest structure in Tokyo
  • The tallest self-supporting iron structure in the world
Didn't go up to the observatory deck, though. Too expensive. I'd rather go to the one in the Metropolitan Building where admission fee is free.

Better save the money for souvenirs. Uh, souvenirs? Didn't have time for souvenirs after dinner, except for some postcards. The shops closed at 8. Can you imagine that!

Spent ¥880 to and fro on the tickets alone - expensive trip. But, great shots. All in all, satisfied!
